Russian cars traveling to Europe must install tachographs: o
MOSCOW, June 9 (Xinhua) — Russian cars will not be allowed into Europe after Jan. 1, 2011 without tachographs installed in them, an official said Wednesday.
The tachograph is used to monitor the time a driver spends behind the wheel and is believed to help prevent accidents caused by fatigue, said Victor Kiryanov, head of Russian traffic police.
The move follows a decision of the European Union, Kiryanov said.
\”There are some questions because we don\’t have enough bed ground for drivers to have a rest,\” he said.
Russia has no rules on installing tachograph in vehicles used domestically.
